About Us

nullTop O' The World on historic French Mountain is at the Gateway of the Adirondacks, said to be the oldest part of the Continent. The history of the area is well tied to the mountain.

The views from Top-O' the World are appreciated as some of the most beautiful in the northeast. They keep visitors coming back year after year. From the golf course you can look out over the mountains in Vermont to the east as well as the beautiful lake of Lake George stretching northward.

The Iroquois & the Algonquin Indians lived around the mountain. Father Isaac Joques, the lake's discoverer, landed beneath the Mt. in August 1642. Battles were fought in its shadow during the Colonial, Revolutionary wars as well as the War of 1812. Scottish settlers including the Lockhart family who came over on Captain Bell's ship settled on French Mountain in the mid 1800's.

In 1926, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tuttle began putting together the 1500 acres now known as the Top of The World Resort. In its glory days, it was the place to be for the wealthy and the politically influential. A refurbished farm and its charming c. 1890s farm buildings were turned into an incredible resort, with its sports center, golf course, tennis and riding stables. Hiking trails with extensive woodlands and the finest most easily accessible outlook in the southern Adirondacks still mark the unique features.

Through the years due to air travel, many of our old resorts have been forgotten and have fallen to ill repair; however, the new owner James Feeney is working to restore this pearl of the Adirondacks back to its former beauty. We all may be able to enjoy a piece of our Adirondack history.

Nine new holes of golf have been added in 2006 to the original nine holes and are naturally routed through the Adirondack forests and open meadows on top of French Mountain. Even more views with natural rock formations, wetlands, and historic markers will be enjoyed by our many guests.  The 18 hole course is challenging, scenic and fun to play.

The original clubhouse and farm lodge has been refurbished with a small Pro Shop, a bar and dining room, all with an authentic and cozy Adirondack feel. The restaurant and grounds are available for a variety of private functions. The upper level offers beautiful lodgings in the style of a Bed & Breakfast. These rooms as well as two lodge apartments are available for rent at reasonable rates with golf and a wonderful country breakfast included.....
